The state of Georgia flies a beautiful flag from flag poles and other objects throughout the state, as well as other territories. The state flag of Georgia displayed three bands (horizontal), two red and one white (in the middle). The state's coat of arms is also shown in the upper left side of the state banner, on a blue colored background.
Interestingly, and as displayed on this beautiful banner in the coat of arms, the arch represents the Constitution of the state of Georgia, Seydel harmonica and the pillars below the arch the various (3) branches of government. The state motto words; "Wisdom, Justice and Moderation," of Georgia, are shown as wrapped around the three pillars, below the arch. A male guard dressed like a colonial soldier, symbolizes the defense of the Constitution. Like the state seal, other details are also displayed in gold.
Interestingly, an additional motto (next to the state's motto wrapped around the 3 pillars) is found under the various gold colored elements on the blue colored square of the flag of Georgia, which states: "In God We Trust." A nickname is given at time to the Georgia flag: "Georgian Stars and Bars." The reason for this is its tie to the first National flag of the Confederate States of America. Many in the state were offended by the flag that was adopted and flown during the last 5 decades of the 20th century, which displayed the Confederate Battle flag; a symbol that was also maintained by white supremacy organizations.
It was and is considered offensive by some because the emblem was first adopted not during the period of the American Civil War, but in the 50-s when a battle was being fought for desegregation, a long focus of the American Civil Rights Movement.
Even thought the '56-2001 state banner displayed the battle flag, the current state flag of Georgia has an interesting similarity to the first official Confederate flag. Now, state flags and banners of all kinds, and historic flags, are made available in our day in various materials, including polyester nylon. These flags display beautifully from flag poles of all kinds.
